Time for another update on the upcoming new version of channels. We want to give you a heads up that we're changing the day on which we'll move all remaining channels over to the new version. Why? Well, July 15th is almost here, and we realized that we still have a few bugs and things left on the to-do list.
Specifically, here's what we plan to do before we roll the new version out to all remaining channels:
- Fix some browser-specific layout bugs - in particular, IE6 has a few issues right now
- Allow you to default your channel to "grid" view
- Allow you to re-order your uploads & playlists
- Some other small things, including fixes for some of the other bugs you've helped find (such as grid view not always working in IE)
So when's the new date? That part's a little trickier - rather than try to predict it, we'd rather focus our time on taking care of the above list. But we'll announce the new date no less than 2 weeks before it happens - and yes, it's still coming this summer.Keep the bug reports and feedback coming...

AntneyW - thanks! Yeah, it's for the best. We've got "randomize/order friends, etc" on our wishlist - probably won't happen before the date we move everyone over to new channels, but I hope it's something we can add soon afterwards. It'd be pretty cool.

ReplyDeleteToday, I reverted back to the old channel just to see what my channel used to look like...
I noticed two things:
1) Vlog option is not available :(. I found this option quite useful!)
2) The "old" channels are much simpler to use in terms of finding your own videos, favorites, etc with the grid view.
The grid view for videos in my opinion is much better than the scroll view. The scroll view is pretty cool but the grid view loads quicker and allows you to access videos simpler.
Maybe add an option to choose between grid and scroll. Scroll for users with few videos and grid for users with lots of videos- for example user "machinima" with 3727 videos and counting

yeah. if you really are postponing this, then YEA!!! i tried out the new beta channel design. my over 130+ playlists are not appearing correctly in the right-side scrolling column and are breaking up in the Grid view. really ANNOYING. i tried it. i don't like it. i reverted back to the old channel design. you guys are NOT READY FOR PRIMETIME. very ANNOYING looking at how the new channel is on the screen. i'm sorry, but you guys AIN'T ready. you should have known that JULY 15 was a date that was going to be knocked down.

ReplyDeleteBut, I'll say it once again : a really needed feature is to allow, at least for IE and FireFox, to right-click in a new tab vids, uploads and favourites, just like it's possible to do in the current channel version, and the new channel version's subscribers section.
Do you work on this as well ? I sincerely hope so, and if you do, thank you in advance for adding this feature.
There should be an option to replace the new video navigator thing on the top of the page with just a box with the featured video, followed by the playlist box, then the boxes with the uploaded videos and favorites, simmilar to the old channels. In addition to this, there should be a way to get to the seperate view playlist/video/favorites/comments pages from the new video navigator. There also needs to be a way to watch videos in full screen, high quality, and HD on the channels.

I knew you guys wasn't going to hit that date two weeks ago. I will advise that in order to save yourself a world of hurt on release day, you add the functionality that allows us to right click and open a video in a separate tab or window from the video player on the channel.

I hope this isn't the beginning of getting rid of the watch pages. That would be a big mistake. I already see that alot of people are commenting on people's channel about a video instead of on the video because they don't know how to comment on the video from the channel.
I feel for you on the IE6 issues. IE6 is starting to mess up a lot of people's development. YT might have to force an upgrade one day.
Omg, i had an idea, one thing i always liked about the original channel is the ability to edit the settings and everything on a seprate page, so would it be possible to leave the capability to edit all of the settings on a seprate page if you wanted to??

??? Is there a place that says the "proper way" to make a new theme? Am I supposed to make changes 1st, then tag it as a new theme? Or do I select a current theme, tag it "New" rename it and then edit it?
Kinda confusing... especially since I can't seem to remove themes I don't want anymore.

I've seen the "new" channel design and I don't like it a bit. I would much rather stick with the "old" channel design.
ReplyDeleteThe new one is overbloated with flash and is a pain to work with. It also screws up links, won't allow opening in new tab and so on. I like the channel design just fine WITHOUT changing.
If you force me to change, you're going to hear about it until you allow me to change back.
Please explain why you feel the need to make this change mandatory.

Playlists are still non-functional in the new channels. I mean they just don't work. They don't launch a selected video in a new window and they don't allow for sequential auto-play on videos. I also haven't been able to watch a single video in the in-channel players. This "upgrade" is not even close to functional, why continue to ram it down our throats?

scott, sikkwiitit - re: an option, we know that folks would like to be able to pick between the old version of channels and the new; though this option would be nice, the ongoing maintenance and cost to do this would be prohibitive while making the user experience across the site inconsistent. Our goal is to launch early and launch often (especially while in beta!), so even though some may not like the new channel design at first, the UI will evolve and improve over time and each iteration we do will reflect your feedback.
DebonairUrbane - yeah, we're looking at a possible right click option. It's definitely a change to watch a channel's videos in the channel itself, but one that will make it easier for channel visitors to watch the channel owner's stuff; it lowers the barrier to seeing more. No worries about the watch page - it isn't going anywhere - it's still just an extra click (or, perhaps, a right click) away. And yeah, IE6 is a huge pain - I was reading today about how Digg is considering dropping support for IE6 in some key areas (Digg'ing, etc), which would be interesting. Problem with IE6 is that many folks using it know that the browser is outdated - but they're using it at work, and have no ability to upgrade.
VideoLeadsOnline - Yeah, at some point we'll let you remove old themes. Probably best way to make a new theme is to pick an existing theme first as a starting point, then click "new theme," then go crazy.

GammaClipper - It sounds like you're saying that you can't get videos to play at all - we haven't heard of anyone currently having that problem. Can you give more info? What browser / OS are you using? Autoplay of videos in playlists should be working if you're looking at a particular playlist. And how are you trying to watch a video in a new window?

If you click on either Favourites in the top bar, or in the side panel, NOTHING happens. Is the design intended that Favourites can no longer be seen ?

Great, hopefully this will confuse the spammers on Wednesday. Now all you need is to allow use to change the amount of visible channel comments and recent activity notifications, show video lengths in the toolbar, allow full-screen videos and links to other 'sites, and if possible, allow YouTube RealTime to work with videos that you are watching in a channel.

What I hate the most about the new channels are the loading times. My internet connection is pretty slow, so it takes 8 seconds for an old channel to load. But when I go to a new channels, it takes 25 seconds! So the loading time is three times longer than it used to be. This basically makes me unable to use channels anymore, as the loading time is so long. Of course I could just wait, but that's not my point. The point is that the new channels load very slowly. The new channels have many great features, but they're useless for me because of the loading times.

And why are the videos in one big list on the new channels? It's really annoying to scroll through them when there are many. It's much easier when there is a separate page for videos.
I am not changing to the new channels until the loading time is shorter and the lag is gone. How can they be so slow anyway?

If you could put igoogle tab and a group tab somewhere on the channels. Brian, I see you've at least bumped back the day to take our channel designs, thank you. But I don't think you've gotten the overall sentiment of most YouTubers. We want to discover new people with similar interests through the related video tab on the play page. The play page is hidden in the new design. We want to laugh at goofy people that leave funny comments. Comments are hidden in the new design. We don't want the new design at all. It takes away or hides the features used most on YouTube. Videos should play on the play page with a related video tab RIGHT THERE IN THE PAGE with lots of videos from lots of different users. You say millions have switched to the new lay out, I say you've told them to switch and they never thought about it, then did as they were told, or you're including the new channels (that have no choice) in your count. I hope you'll come around to the right way of thinking and abandon Channel 2.0. The old layout works GREAT and doesn't need fixed. If you need, just ADD a place in the original page layout for advertisements. Most of us understand you've got bills to pay and that is how you pay them. The black out started early I'm told (I don't know I haven't been visiting Google or YouTube pages very much lately and no news is leaking out to other sources)...

ReplyDeleteIn the new channel title we are able to put in only 30 characters. That poses a problem when you want to describe or channel with a full sentence. In the old channel we are able to put in more than 30 characters in the channel_title.
I know you said you can't give us the option to use the old channel if we don't like the new one, but how is that, since it's optional to have the old or the new channels at the moment anyway? You should really listen to all the people who think this new channel is just stupid.

ReplyDeleteI'm having a problem with my channel banner. I just noticed that the new limit is 960px X 150px. But every time I try uploading an image that size, it just squishes it back to 75px. I tried going back to the old design, & then it brought it up the 150px. But it squished it again going to the new design.
I've tried getting into the partner forums, but it keeps saying they don't have an account that matches MeMyselfAndPi with memyself3.14@gmail.com *Sigh*. & have am completely positive that the information is correct!

I have a little "This background is made by and copyright to 0Yarko" at the very bottom, and every time I get an honor, it gets covered by the channel body so I have to remove things from my channel Description to make it normal again x__X it's very complicated to explain, but PLEASE make the body NON MOVING
2)Sometimes when I click on "Videos" or "see all", it tells me "unknown playlist" or something along those lines.
Please fix that as well.
3) PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Make that 256k limit for background at least 1M! WE DON'T LIVE IN THE DIAL UP ERA ANYMORE! the issue is: in the past you had http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=musicformachines&view=videos which was not ideal but at least had JUST the uploads, no bio, friends, subs, comments, so faster to load and right clickable to open many clips in many tabs to load them
now we are stuck with this: http://www.youtube.com/user/muzik4machines#grid/uploads which is longer to load cause there is way more content to load(and most of it is not needed when you link from an external site (the embed also vanishad on all pages i had it...)
i ask, because in the past i used to iframe the uploads page on my site http://muzik4machines.com/videos/index.html and it still looked pretty good, now its a stale blank background (could the playlists BG match the channel?) and when i embed the whole channle in the iframe, i end up with my header, your header, my banner THEN the videos almost halfway down, plus it loads the bio (again) and comments/subs etc
maybe if there was just an embed code for the video navigator, THAT would be really cool as i could replace the playlist http://muzik4machines.com with the whole navigator (with the ad) on my front page (but i guess there is probably legal objections for that one, even tho the ads will show and all clips would be piped thru the navigator)
anyway, jsut an idea, i really miss being able to have a page with only all uploads

Also, I have been reading all the comments... most of them are NEGATIVE. To me, I don't mind the "old" channel. It does everything its supposed to do, unlike the beta which is more complicated and hard to navigate thru videos.
Sometimes it's OK to listen to the people. I completely agree with conner. OPTIONAL is the best solution.
I will be switching back to the old channels soon if the vlog option is not available.

Im afrade the same thing is going to happend to youtube if they do this. I think you got your numbers backwards. 90% of the community like the new channel or at least give helpful criticism for improving it.
Can you bring back the seperate pages for the videos/favorites/comments/playlists? Right clicking on the videos/favorites/playliststabs at the top of the channel ccould open these seperate pages, and these pages could open more seperate pages. The seperate comments page could be accessed by clicking on the number of comments, just like the old channel.

Current YouTube Channel Beta Glitches (in IE8 with Windows Vista)

1) When you click the “more info” link below the video description, the scrollbar that appears to allow you to scroll and read the full description has a glitch -- the text doesn’t scroll down.
2) Okay this one is a little complicated and hard to explain... bare with me... Whenever I make any changes to my channel on any tab (Settings, Themes and colors, Modules), when I click save change, the spinning wheel pops up over the cancel and save changes button. When it's done saving, it goes back to my channel. Here's the glitch: If I go back to the tab, the wheel is still over the save changes and cancel button, preventing me from making any changes, and forcing me to refresh the page... Did you get that? If so, tell me if you're having the same glitch...
3) The links in the channel description don't autolink -- it puts a space in them, which prevents them from being clicked.
4) In the grid view, the Uploads and Favorites section the 9th and 10th rows overlap each other.
5) When using full screen mode in IE8, the wrapper and module backgrounds disappear (except for the video area at the top). This is kind of annoying for me, because I prefer going to full screen (by pushing F11) in IE to edit my channel.

Suggestions for the YouTube Beta Channels

1) Along with the last login date, there could be an indicator on the channel that tells whether the user is online or offline (using YouTube, or not using YouTube).
2) More transparency options for the module backgrounds (in the Color Palettes section) ; allowing the full 100% transparency instead of limiting it to 50%.
3) The option to set how many channel comments you want displayed on your channel.
4) A few more fonts would be nice, such as Comic Sans, Arial Bold, etc. :)
5) Allow the option to reorder friends/subscribers/subscriptions.
6) Allow the option to choose how many friends/subscribers/subscriptions you want to display, and the option to change the size of the profile pictures in these sections.
7) Rearranging play lists, instead of the usual alphabetical order.
8) The high quality/high definition buttons need to be replaced in the video player on the channels. Also, when you click these, the player could resize to the size for the quality setting.
9) The full screen button needs to be replaced for the video player. When user’s click this, the player would go full screen.

Hello...I just have a few questions. First, I don't like the BETA design...at least, not yet. I am glad that the date has been pushed back to fix a number of concerns about YouTubers.

Also, my next questions aren't really that important, but just things I am curious about. If users can't have animated backgrounds, will we be able to have animated avatars (animated .gif)? I understand that some animated backgrounds were over-the-top as far as size and other issues (though I've never used them personally). I don't mind a size limit, but if it is possible, could they be limited to something like 150KB or something. Again, it's not important, but I thought I'd ask.

ReplyDeleteWill the URL format for watching a video under the "discussion, related and more" view (ie. the old style view) still have the same cgi parameters? That is will it still be /watch?v=video_id and for playlists /view_playlist?p=playlist_id ... and so on, will these parameters maintain their current format?
I ask because my videos have links to other videos or playlists in the descriptions and
I need to know ahead of time if those will become invalidated when the switch occurs. It may take several days to re-edit nearly 300 video descriptions with the correct URL's and parameters.

I think you misunderstood me TryThisAtHome. I know you like the beta channels, and your idea is good on paper, but you're forgetting one fact. The whiners would not shut up even if the votes were in favour of the beta channel design.

ReplyDeleteThere is a problem with the "Wrapper Text Color". Can you give us the choice to select the wrapper text color for the text above and below the video seperately? currently if I change the wrapper text color, it'd change the text color for both the text above and below the video, which can create some issues when you play around with wrapper color and also the background image.
I don't like any change in format. It is just more corporate fascism, forcing us to conform to a set of rules and protocols that you've created, rather than allowing us the freedom of choice. Art is free expression, never to be dictated by SOP, or made to conform to the dimensions of someone's corporate box. And this comming so closely on the heels of everyone's videos being ruined by WMG corporate nonsense? I smell something very fishy here...

Not to be a hater but I dis-like the new beta channel. I'm loving the old one and hatg the beta. It's just a design that's not cut out for some people. ReplyDeleteBrian - I am running IE7 on Windows Vista. I can't find a single "direct-to-video" or other link that permits me to open videos on the new channels in new windows directly. I have to first bring them up in the non-functional channel player and then launch from the title. When attempting to find and select a video this is both difficult and protracted. In my opinion the Beta channel isn't close to release-worthy.

1) Open user page
2) Open playlist tab
3) Open playlist
4) Select video
5) Select video again from the non-functional in-channel viewer sidebar
6) Select video title to launch video page in same window, right click doesn't work
When I finally get the video page I want to watch there is no playlist available. There's nothing. It's just gone. These new channels are badly broken and somehow I don't see you giving a flying fuck as to whether the myriad issues that thousands of the users that made this site a success are no doubt having before imposing this change on all of them.
It used to be that if I wanted MySpace I'd go to MySpace and if I wanted videos I'd go to YouTube or Revver. Now it seems that YouTube is attempting to become MySpace by focusing on channel design and restricting access to the content that made this site great. Oh, and pack as many ads as possible into the partner channels because YouTube hasn't made a fucking dime in profit since the Google acquisition.

It's impossible to scroll down the video description for a featured video on the new beta channel if you use IE. Some of the text is just not moving, it just "hangs there". Not a problem with Mozilla.

If I use annotations at the end of a video, why can't I make a link to my new channel front page which will THEN play a playlist? One of the new features will be to have people "watching your playlist within your own design".

I don't know if you're aware of this glitch, so I'm sorry if it's nothing new to you, but in my channel I'm started to have several playlists. Now, some of them are starting to look "off" when I click the Playlists sections and I scroll down through the list. They go through the right of the module and barely see half of the "cover" image.

ReplyDeleteI'd push it back a further 2 weeks, personally. During which time us beta testers can give you more feedback and you can prioritize what are bugs and what are requests.
To the beta testers: try to break the channel anyway you know how. This is what they *want* us to do, so that they can fix any bugs or potential exploits. Do eeeeeet!

I can't revert back to the previous style I had before. I think the new style is obnoxious and it's harder to access my Favorites this way (which is something I do all the time).
ReplyDeleteWith the new channel design, you can no longer hover the cursor over a video's title or thumbnail to view a tooltip with the video's full title. That'll be a major problem for anyone viewing the owner's channel.

I am not fussy on going to the new Beta thing since whatever I have tried in a Beta has never been something I liked in here or anywhere else. Muzik4machines' channel looks ugly and bulky, not to mention that it crashed my browser. The White House's channel looks OK, but it could be eons better with the classic design. Slyth66's channel took forever to load. I would love to list the reasons why the beta channel sucks but I already posted them in another post.

ReplyDeleteCan you give us an update on the channel type (director channel, musician channel, comedian channel, etc.)? In the old channel there was a grey bar at the bottom of the profile picture that displayed what channel type you had. It is not on the new channel.
There is no point to have a director channel. You really get nothing extra compared to a regular channel. Maybe you should keep all the other channel types and get rid of the director channel or keep the director channel but add more features to it.
I posted several bugs in the other blog entries, cobaye. And you're right, I will stop 'whining". I'll just take it to the next level.

Some people are spamming the same message over and over that the beta channel sucks.

I agree with what N/A said. The new channels should say what type of channel you have. (guru, reporter, musician, director, comedian...etc)

Why is there no RSS feature included in the new channels? YouTube should include that as a feature within the subscribe service, so that subscriber would have the option of bing updated about new video via their favorite RSS reader.

I have IE8. Today I noticed that when the compatibility view is turned on, the revert button wraps to a second line. When the compatibility view is turned off, the bar looks normal.

ReplyDeleteThis is an update regarding the grid view glitch where you click on the grid view button, then click on a video thumbnail from the grid view and then it takes you back to player view but nothing happens.
I have IE8.
I am not sure if this will help to solve the problem but I discovered soemthing today and am posting it just incase it helps.
I played around with the compatibility view button under "Tools" and discovered something. I will list step by step below what buttons I clicked. This will be exactly what I did. Do not assume that I click anything in between steps.
1.) Went to my channel
2.) Click on grid view button
3.) Selected a video by clicking on it.
4.) Takes me to player view but nothing happens
5.) Went to "Tools" and clicked on "compatibility view".
6.) Immediately after clicking on "compatibility view", the player loads the video I selected in grid. Doesn't play the video but the video that I selected has loaded and ready for me to click on the play button on the player.

8.) Takes me to player view but nothing happens.
9.) Clicked on "compatibility view".
10.) This second video I selected in grid view loads in the player view and ready for me to click play for me to play the video.

Give us an easy option to open videos from the upload and favorites list in a new browser window without clicking on them, open the video player menu and select it there. it just takes 3 times more mouse clicks and much more time.
ReplyDeleteIt is also very very hard to keep orientation in the uploads list when there are many videos inside, let's say 100. The old option to have pages with 20 videos on it is much more user friendly. I'm currenty planning to use your api to program my own youtube user interface which doesn't depend on your opinion of functionality...which I don't share.
How about the comments on a video? Where are the categories of favorites. I just don't know where to click to find all this. On the old channels everything was clear, a little more scrolling but easy to find what you want. The new design? Packed with too much information with click on options, not enough space to see any category that way you have a good overview of it.
So, if you really want to annoy hundereds of thousand youtubers, enforce the new design. If you want happy users, let us a choice how to see a channel, old fashion or new one.
Could we also have the ability to reorder our Friends/Subscribers too please? That would be wonderful!

Watching my favourites is all what I do in youtube. That is also how I find new videos. Now, new channels makes thinks so hard, for me. New channels looks fine, but to me, this is not a good thing. Atleast I can watch all my favourites... I still dont get it, why do we all have to change old channel to new channel? Why didn't we have a choice?

Some people wants the profile information at the top. This would make peoples channels inconsistent. I suggest that you make the profile picture at the top of the page clicakble. When it is clicked, it scrolls the page down to your profile information section.

In grid view could we have the option to have the playlists aliened vertically (like the old channel when you click "See All") on the left going down, this gives a clean layout and plenty of room for the lists titles & info to be read (we have 36 playlists of YT history that is a very popular part of our channel)

ReplyDeleteAfter browing various channels and using the search feature on the channels, I have a feature that I really want. In the search results using the "search uploads", the date that the video was uploaded needs to be under the video thumbnails. For example, I was on someones channel and I used the search uploads to find a specific video from about two years ago. It would have made it faster for me to find if the search results also contained the date uploaded.

ReplyDeleteWhy does the new beta design have to disable hyper links in my bio info. It adds a space in between them so they don't work. Are they scared of losing traffic to linking off youtube? Either way it's counter intuative to social networking.

I think bringing back that box which had the recent activity of your contacts would be a great idea. I remember a lot of people whining when it went. It was a great tool for letting people know what you were doing and vice versa. Why did they get rid of that? bandwidth?

In my opinion, the new channels are mostly eye-candy. I don't care about what my channel looks like (that's why it has no background or colors), I care about how it works. The new channels are really slow to load, but they don't work as well as the old ones. That's why I hate them.

It is currently 8:06PM Easterm Time (5:06PM blogger time?) and the grid view now works, both with compatibility view turned on and off. Kind of slow to load the video but it works. I assume you must have fixed it between then and now.

ReplyDeleteI'm curious about the channel types as well. I had a director's channel with the old style, and didn't see any difference between that and a regular channel. I'm wondering if we'll still be able to choose a channel type, and, if so, what each type entails?
@Glamrod: Director type used to give you a longer time limit for videos, but I think Youtube gave that up. That really needs to come back, especially for people who make a lot of videos and are somewhat hampered by the 11 minute limit.

ReplyDeleteThe Quintessential Glamrod, you can always change your channel type and then change it back to director. Try it out. Go to your account page and click on edit channel.
TaurusOxford, thats what I thought too about the time limit but couldn't remember. I think they shortened it to 10 minutes after they started the YouTube partner program. Now there is really no difference between the Director channel type and the YouTuber channel type. I just changed my channel type back to YouTuber a few days ago.

I use Pinnacle Studies Ultimate version 12 to edit and post videos onto youtube, and when I convert my channel to BETA then try to upload my video off of Pinnacle it doesn't upload. It always says theres an error. So I have to switch back to the original version and upload.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info regarding the director's channel, guys. I just tried changing it to YouTuber then back to Director and didn't see a difference. But the videos I upload are all under 10 minutes so I guess it wouldn't make a difference in my case. Though I am working on a project that will cut it very close to the 11 minute mark, so it would be nice to have that function back.

ReplyDeleteI don't know if you can fix this or not. Its not a bug but just an annoyance.
This is regarding channel navigation.
Lets say I'm on any website. In this example, lets say I'm on the YouTube search results page. I click on someone's username and it takes me to their channel. I browse videos using the grid view button. After watching a few videos, I want to get back to the YouTube search results.
So I click the browser's back button. Here is where the annoyance starts. I have to click the back button, not once, twice, or three times, but many times before it takes me to the search results page (or any page I was on prior to visiting a channel). If something can be done about this, it would make navigation much better.

Custom ordering, I wish to choose the videos to recommend to my viewers and I think the layout has too many words, I wish to have more thumbnails displayed without scrolling but not at the compromise of the featured video.

But why can't I add this url as a playlist address when I use annotations in a video? And can you fix it so that the "more info/video description" for a featured video on a channel works for BOTH IE and Mozilla?

It was supposed to be "blackout day" today. But it's pointless now and will fail. I think the blackout is a stupid idea. You still haven't responded to my comments in eariler blogs Brian. I want to know if you can put group and Igoogle tabs in the betas. and video player settings for the video player. I also wonder if you can make more color options for channel themes, I don't like the dark blue much. Having more color options would solve this though. please respond. These are the only things I really need. Everything else is perfect.

This profile had been changed to current BETA, but even Firefox 3.0 couldn't show at all the videos there. As you see on that images, the seeking bar for the videos is under the image and couldn't show a lot of videos. Tomorrow it could be changed, but, had you at least tried which is the user watching desire? This is a horrorful BETA, why don't try to make it better and then let us try it?
And, by the way, why I couldn't write a comment with my Youtube account instead of this from Google?

ReplyDeleteMaybe you should post somewhere a *brief* manual for the channels? For example, I see some people here want more colours, while in fact you can have whatever colour, if you just know its hex triplet. You know, like a little user-friendly cookbook for browsing, for designing a channel, with some tips, and so on. *Not* like the "YT Help" which looks like written by Microsoft.
Would it be possible in the channel video player, like now we have "more info", to also have "show comments" and "view related videos"? So that you can see them without leaving the channel?
There really should be a "view fullscreen" button on the channel player. Especially now with so many HD videos.
The possibility to right-click > open in a new window would be nice, too.
Could there be an option to make the "Recent activity" and "Channel comments" have set dimensions? When I upload a video, it has a long description, when I become friends, it is just one line. I guess it could be scrollable?
And please don't forget about the bug with overlapping playlists in non-grid view.
Please answer. If what I propose wouldn't be possible, I'd like to know why :-)

There's currently a serious bug on the new channels that makes them unusable - I hope it's temporary. Whenever I try to browse my channel videos, I get redirected to http://www.youtube.com/profile .
